We are disappointed to advise that an apparently planned robbery took place from a private locked garage in Wellington sometime on Wednesday night. The thief (thieves) managed to get away with a number of Rods and Reels. The list is outlined in this News Letter. Please let your local Police know if you are offered any suspiciously cheap gear that resembles the items outlined. The Angler concerned is obviously distressed about the theft of gear that has taken him some time to accumulate. Any help to recover the items stolen will be gratefully received.
Stolen Rods and reels:
Shimano Tiagra 16 on a Maverix High Roller 15 rod spooled with spectra
Shimano Calcutta 400 on a Maverix High Roller 8 rod spooled with spectra
Shimano Calcutter 700 on Maverix Ultra Sport 10 rod spooled with spectra
Shimano Trinadad 30 on a custom built Gingebuilt jig rod (trader mac graphics) spooled with spectra
Shimano TLD 25 on a Kilwell 15kg Live Fibre rod spooled with spectra
Shimano Speedmaster IV on a penn jig rod spooled with spectra
Van Staal VS275 G serial number 12042 on a carpenter popper rod spooled with multicolour spectra
Abu 7000 overhead reel (black classic model) on 7’6” ugly stick spooled with multicolour spectra
Abu 6000 overhead reel (red classic model) on Aussi barra stick rod
Abu 6000c 2 speed reel (red) on ugly stick jig rod spooled with spectra
Daiwa 900 on Kilwell Sceptre 24/37 kg rod spooled with 37gk spectra
Orium baitrunner reel on a Bluewater carbon graphite rod spooled with spectra
I may have one or two of the rods slightly wrong but not by much. The reels are 100% correct.
The Abu 6000 is the original style in immaculate condition. The Abu 7000 is the only reel that looks like it has had a hard life, because it has, but it was still in great nick.
The Van Staal reel is a primo popper spinning reel. I have not seen another of these in New Zealand. It is about 8 months old. All the Shimano gear (except the speedmaster) is in “brand new” condition.
